SlideShare – An Effective Business Tool

In a world where we as business owners are constantly trying to find effective ways to market our business, there seems to be an abundance of tools at our disposal.

SlideShare (www.slideshare.net) has been on my radar as one of the tools that I have SLideShare logowanted to try for a while.  Their website states that “SlideShare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations” and they bill themselves as “a business media site for sharing presentations, documents and pdfs.”  You can upload marketing presentations, how-to videos, educational presentations, and more.  After reviewing some of the presentations, I even saw online visual resumes of individuals.

SlideShare offers both paid and free memberships.  Being a small business owner who is always watching the “bottom-line”, I created a free account with them.  Account creation was very simple and straightforward – something this busy entrepreneur truly appreciates.  I then uploaded my Power Point file, which was also a very easy process.

Once you have uploaded your content into SlideShare, you can:

  • Spread your content through blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
  • Embed slideshows into your own blog or website.
  • Share slideshows publicly or privately.
  • Synch audio to your slides.
  • Join groups to connect with SlideShare members who share your interests.

I truly appreciate the ease of this marketing tool.  In addition to uploading the file into SlideShare, I then added the SlideShare app in LinkedIn, allowing my connections in LinkedIn to see my presentation.  The Power Point file I uploaded was a portfolio of my Social Media and Website Design services.  Now that the presentation is automatically fed into my LinkedIn profile, my connections can instantly see a visual representation of the services I offer.  In addition, SlideShare is well-indexed in the search engines, which provides more exposure for my business.

Take a few minutes to see if SlideShare can help your business.
